How I Lowered My Blood Pressure Naturally as a Doctor
How I lowered my blood pressure naturally as a doctor
I am excited to share an update from a video I did last year on how to take your blood pressure at home. When I filmed that video I was met with a big surprise....and I mean big surprise. I was shocked to learn that my blood pressure was much higher than I anticipated.
As a doctor who promotes health and wellness, I knew I had to make some changes to my lifestyle to bring my blood pressure down. I had high blood pressure years ago due to a lot of stress, so I was really motivated to start a new journey to find ways to get my readings within a healthy range.
Watch the video now to see if I succeeded, as I check my blood pressure and share with you all what I did naturally and without medication. There is no shame in using medications to help with your blood pressure, but I do encourage all of you to try and make small changes in your lifestyle to promote healthy changes in your own blood pressure readings.

Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”. The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way.
I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.
Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and UA-cam sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 UA-cam subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

Sorry Doc. Trust my doctor? No sir. In 2004, my doctor told me I was prediabetic. I asked what I should do, he said let us monitor it. That was his advice? He could have said watch your sugar (at least 4 cans of coke a day and one gallon of ice cream a week) and carbs ( rice and bread). No he did not. A few years later (2018), i blacked out while driving, I was taken to the hospital. My A1C was 14.5. New doctor prescribed insulin. I asked if this was a lifetime sentence? He said yes. I have to take insulin for the rest of my life . II turned to You Tube and read about the success Doctor Jason Fung from Canada had with his diabetic patients thru intermittent fasting. I embarked on this, and there were times I used OMAD (one meal a day). My A1C slowly went down (could not ditch that bread 100 %) last checkup (2 months ago ) was 6.8. No meds, no insulin. It would have gone down faster if only I could have done better if I did a cold turkey on the bread. I must be doing something wrong because I have was referred to see a nephrologist (stage 4). Same thing.... no advice on cut fried foods, less meat, more fish more acacia fiber good fruits nuts veggies. And here you are Doctor, you did a clickbait by saying "what foods will lower your creatinine and increase your GFR".I expected to hear from you what foods would make it better, what foods would make it worst. I was disappointed because you skirted around it.

My husband suffers from Membranous Nephropathy and your videos are the only resource we have found helpful and super informative!! We are having a hard time finding a doctor familiar with his specific kidney disease. They put him on a Rebuatuxin infusion therapy and he has completely lost his appetite and lost 40lbs in a few months! Any way you can give some good pointers on foods he can eat with his specific type of Kidney Disease, we are struggling to get the right answers. He is very young, 27 and I feel like most of this can be managed with the proper meal plan!

How long should one plan on to see if lifestyle changes are effective at lowering their blood pressure? I working out regularly (3-5x a week -~30 mins to an hour mix of cardio and strength). I’ve been losing on average 1-2lbs every two weeks. Have added a lot of elements of dash diet, and am trying to reduce sodium. But in general I’m not sure how long I should continue these approaches without medication. My BP averages around 130-135 systolic, and 85-90 diastolic. Should I wait a month,3 months, or longer to see if lifestyle changes are the right approach for me?

most people want to hear hope, not all the negative things that could, maybe, might happen. most people are low in potassium but you make it sound like it's a bad thing because we might have advanced kidney disease. and lastly why can't we eat a healthy food everyday for the rest of our lives. you can bet if i can eat something to avoid taking another pill I'd do it.

One more thing, I have been religious my whole life and I worked very hard winning souls for J & L, but Yahuah was killing me. I read Old Testament first books, discovered that Yah was removing me for adultery against Him. I was cheating on Him with all the gods of this world and my many christian idols that He commanded do not have any. The gods of the world are the holidays the world celebrates. I couldn’t believe it, I didn’t know because my husband and I were following the church which literally means Circe the goddess daughter of helios who is the god of the underworld. Yahuah removes those who do not keep His Commands. You need to read OT and see for yourself how far away you are from following your Creator and His Son. John 1 reminds us that they are the Word and if He commanded us to follow Him because He is the way the truth and He is the Life in us, leading us in His truth. Yet every one follows men and women who teach what is satans word of lies. Satan in Ezekiel 28 shows he was Yahuahs priest. Compare to Exodus 28 Aarons priestly garments. The great falling away is the worship of zeus and baal, the obomination that causes desolation who sits in the heart of the seas (Nations) so many have invited Yahuah opponents into their heart Jeremiah says Yahs opponents dwell in Leb ( the inner man, heart mind soul) a place satan doesn’t belong. He is the false prophet of religion and mankind is following him and are deceived. The truth is Marcion of Sinope a Catholic priest who created the New Testament was known for editing scripture to fit his own beliefs in to the word and changing the names that the world used. The Institute for scriptural research known as the ISR version can be found on bible hub. They-put back Yahs Holy names. Fall on your knees ask your Heavenly Father for the truth. Only in your prayer closet (mind). Satan will take your prayers spoke outloud to deceive you. There is so much to share but for now, healing comes through only one Name. Do you know the name of your Father and the Name of His Son? Well, do you? The great falling away has already happened and the people don’t even know the signs because they do not seek Him who knows all the mysteries Be healed. Love granny

Im a kidney miracle patient. Apart of the world’s largest kidney transplant for patients in two days. I was almost dead, when I called on the holy names of our Creator. Exodus 3 “I Am that which I Am “ in Hebrew is “AniYah Asher AniYeh “ Yahuah (Am He who self exist) my Elohim (Mighty one) and His Son Yahushua ( Am He who cried out) He saved me. One woman went in and donated a kidney and many others in the pool matched up with others donating for families. You have to test the name you call on. Scripture says call on My Name and I will heal you. In your mind only, call on your gods, if they don’t answer you then rebuke them and call on the Names I gave you. Jesus is latin/spanish- HeyZeus Lord means Baal God is short for goden They came in their own names and everyone received them John 5:43 Please believe what I am telling you. It’s your job to test every spirit. Make sure you are following the right spirit. Remember many are called but only a few are chosen

This is advice m, you must talk to your doctor and your nutritionist, they actually have your record and can work better with you. As you can see everybody has a different story on what they eat or don’t eat, what can happen and what won’t. Fid is the one in control so do what your doctor and nutritionist recommend for you and your gut feelings.

The assistant in my doctor's office makes no effort to follow your pre BP reading. I am only 5 feet tall and my feet cannot touch the floor unless I lean forward. Then my back is not supported. If I mention that to them they literally tell me it doesn't matter. I am a,retired nurse and I tell them it does. No change. I know I should inform my doctor but I hate to seem like a know it all. Yet he is dosing patient's meds based on the sometimes inconsistent readings. Just my opinion.

Every doctors office I’ve ever been to does the same thing. They ask you questions while you’re getting your blood pressure reading. They do not elevate your arm. They check other vitals at the same time. I now tell the staff that the doctor will take it while I am in with her. She is fine with taking it and does a great job. Oh, and by the way, I don’t have elevated blood pressure, and I don’t think it’s a lot to ask.

Why not drink lemonade every day? Chick Fil-A has an artificial flavored lemonade that’s really good. What about beer? A urologist told me to drink as much beer as you can to flush out a kidney stone. I don’t like beer but that’s what he told me. Also, why can’t someone tell you how much calcium you have to eat during a day. 6 yogurt cups? 3 slices of cheese?
